Slippery Seal is a gaming app that deals with real-life aquatic creatures and stars a seal called “Slippery”. Slippery migrates from San Francisco to Anchorage and down the beautiful Pacific Coast going on an adventure, searching for food. Unlike many other apps, Slippery Seal's message is more positive and educational, providing users with a unique real-life experience.
Paul Conway, Slippery Seals CTO, was the originator of the eco-friendly game that caters to everyone. How did the mastermind come up with the idea? Well let's just say it all started with Paul watching Shark week on the Discovery channel.
Conway was seeking to start his own company when the inspiration and thought about a mobile application was born. He knew that he would succeed, given his background in technology. Conway approached Kevin Lynch, CEO and Tim Morales, COO with the concept. They started to work right away. Less than a year later, the masterpiece was complete.
The creators passion for seal life as well as "real life" adventures and beautiful habitats in the aquatic world allowed the game to be unique in its own entity. They showed that geography can be fun and interesting to learn, by playing an eco-friendly game. Some might wonder, who was behind the beautiful backgrounds and sea creatures? Well no other than the talented Chase Osborne, who made the characters and artwork come alive through his artistry.
"I have been in the I.T. industry for 22 years. Working for startup’s for the majority of the time really helped me have an understanding of the time and effort that is needed in order to have a product that you are both proud of and willing to stand by. This being my first time with creating an app (instead of engineering and supporting the infrastructure that it's usually played on) definitely opened my eyes to what is still an ever-growing application world and that pushing the ways that games are created is the way to go about it," said Morales.
