Tutors For Tots Tweens & Teens Focuses On Individual Learning

Ava Tehrani Tutoring Joshua D. in Math

By Stephanie Minasian|Gazette Newspapers|January 9, 2013|3:15 pm

As a former Long Beach educator, Dupé Aleru knows what it takes to help students find success in school.

Aleru, who was laid off from the Long Beach Unified School District in 2010, began Tutors for Tots, Tweens and Teens the same year as a way to continue helping youngsters who may be struggling in school.

The business grew out of Aleru’s living room into a new business office, which will host a grand opening celebration this Saturday, at 5541 E. 7th St.

“The grand opening of the business office is a milestone in my life, so I want to go big,” Aleru said. “I like to do everything big and glamorous.”

Aleru and her team of credentialed instructors work one-on-one with students in their homes, which provides the children with intensive instruction and also keeps them away from any distractions.

By Dupe Aleru|Ed Enterprise|December 1, 2012|12:00pm

Joshua D.

Tutors for Tots Tweens & Teens would like to congratulate one of its students Joshua D. for being its November Student of the Month recipient.

Joshua is a seventh grade student at Dodson Middle school in Palos Verdes, CA. He began our program in October 2012 to improve his Algebra grade as well as his math skills.

The past few months Joshua has learned strategies for problem solving in addition to the algebraic process of solving two-step equations. He has now mastered this process and has proven that his hard work pays off.

“Joshua is at mastery with solving two step equations. He was able to come up with his own problems and he solved them. This requires higher level thinking and mastery of a subject, said Ms. Tehrani. ”
Tutors for Tots would like to congratulate Joshua D. on his achievement as well as acknowledge his tutor Ava Tehrani.

To view Joshua's accomplishments, visit our local Yogurtland at 4816 E. 2nd Street, Long Beach, CA. For more information about Tutors for Tots Tweens & Teens, visit www.tutorsfortots.com or call 562-856-2801.

Tutors for Tots to Move into New Office in 2013

Tutoring, Counseling, Special Ed and Test Prep

By Dupe Aleru|Ed Enterprise|November 10, 2012|11:30am

Tutors for Tots will be settled in their new office location—5541 E. 7th Street on the corner of 7th and Ultimo in Long Beach, starting January 1, 2013.

After establishing the business back in 2010, it has been an exhilarating journey for me as well as the Tutors for Tots staff, students and parents.

The business started in the comfort on my own home after being laid off in May of 2010. Though I was devastated from losing my job as a teacher with LBUSD, I knew that God had a plan for my life and I was determined to follow my instincts—to start my own education company.

During the beginning stages, I was just thrilled to have my own company and to be working for myself.  I envisioned to start a business that would allow parents to supplement their child's education, but I had no idea at the time how much work, energy and time would have to go into my new business for it to become successful.

Though it's still early in our journey, I can say that Tutors for Tots is slowly growing due to the dedication of our clients and the quality of instruction that we bring to our community.

I am proud to be a part of this pioneering company and I am thrilled to see what's next to come!
